“The Word/Echos” – I composed this poem as part of a special December project for “The WORD in 3D” initiative in 2013. I had initially invited three other bloggers who I respect for their prophetic, poetic giftings, and planned on merely being the editor of the project. One blogger was unable to participate, however, which left me being the third contributor. It was a big step in faith, but God is faithful. I pray that you are blessed with the poetic expression He birthed through that endeavor. Please click here to see the full project.
As I’m able, I will be adding more recordings. These are simple, non-professionally recorded offerings. Although the songs are copyrighted, please feel free to use any of them for personal or small group (non-commercial, non-virtual) purposes. At the bottom of this page, I have included a continuous playlist of these recordings for your enjoyment. I pray that these offerings are a blessing to you! 🙂
“Behold How Good and How Pleasant” (Psalm 133) – (recording included) This is one of my favorite Psalms for unity lies at the very heart of the eternal purpose of the Father, the reconciliatory work of Christ, and the unifying work of the Holy Spirit. This is the place that our Triune God has “commanded the blessing!”
“Christ in Me is Everything I Need” / “The Mystery” – The first song here was given to me while in Bible School on a night when my wife told me she needed some time alone to seek the Lord for a greater fullness of the Spirit in her life. The Lord spoke to me to go to a quiet place to pray for her as she was praying and to take my guitar with me. As I sought the Lord, He dropped this simple song into my heart. It captures the essence of what the Spirit has come to do in us: to form Christ within as our “all in all”. The song is simple, but the truth is profound.
The second song, “The Mystery”, I began spontaneously singing part of one day as I got to the end of singing “Christ In Me is Everything I Need”. The rest of the song came together in short order. I’ve included both songs on the same page as I feel they belong together and compliment each other lyrically and musically.
“He Must Increase” – (recording included) This song was inspired while listening to the audiobook: The Life That Wins by Watchman Nee. In it Nee gives one of the clearest teachings I’ve ever heard of Galatians 2:20: “ I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” As I meditated on his teaching, I began to sing the first part of this song. As I continued, I felt the Spirit drawing together some other wonderful verses that speak of Christ being formed in us and living His Life out through us. I pray that you are edified by the profound truths of this simple song!
“I Would Have Despaired” – (recording included) This song draws from two portions of Scripture, Psalm 27:13-14 and John 14:27. Interestingly, I got the inspiration for the melodies for both parts on separate occasions, separated by weeks, and thinking that they were the inspirations for two different songs. It wasn’t until I listened to the initial recordings I made on my phone months later that I realized that the melodies were identical and that the verses complimented each other beautifully. It seemed that the Lord had another idea! I pray this simple, melodic, Scripture meditation, will bring you encouragement and peace in the midst of these troubled times and help you to hide God’s Word in your heart to strengthen you for the daily battle!
“Pressing On” – (recording included) Based on Philippians 3:13-14 and Hebrews 12:1-3 which are some of my favorite passages in Scripture.
“Purify Your Church” – This song expresses the desire of the Bride to be purified as she awaits the return of her Bridegroom and the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. This purification of the Bride is God’s great end-time work, and it has everything to do with Jesus becoming our “first love”.
“Revival” – (recording included) – This song is the very first that I ever wrote, way back in 1978, as a brand new believer who recently bought a guitar and was just learning to play. I’m including it here because it holds such a special place in my heart, not to mention, it’s got a fairly catchy tune and, most importantly, a timeless message! Enjoy!
“The Sacrifices of God” – (recording included) There is a deep need to recover a spirit of brokenness and contrition in the hearts of God’s people, both individually and collectively, in this hour. This song brings together both of these aspects drawing from Psalm 51:6,17 and 2 Chronicles 7:14.
“They That Wait” – (recording included) A meditation on Isaiah 40:31. Another favorite portion of Scripture.
“We’re Going Up” – (recording included) While teaching an Old Testament Survey course years ago, I was preparing a lesson on the book of Joshua, when the Lord stopped me in my studying and simply poured this song into me. It came almost effortlessly and completely. I feel it was a prophetic gift from Him for the Body. It is the first and last ballad-type song I have ever written.
“We Are Your Resting Place” – This song expresses the heart’s cry of God’s people to be a habitation for God in which the Lord Jesus is given His rightful place, manifestly known, and lovingly submitted to.
