“Revival” – by David Bolton

[Note: This was the first song that I wrote as a new believer, over 40 years ago, in 1978.  I’m including it here for nostalgia’s sake (not to mention, you may just enjoy it. 😉 ]

REVIVAL

In my heart, Lord, I need revival
In my heart I must turn to You
I must put evil far behind me
And, Lord, return unto You

For my heart has gone astray with temptation today
And the love that I promised You is gone
So set my heart on fire, fill me up with Your desire
And I will humbly bow before Your Throne

In Your Church, Lord, we need revival
In Your Church we must turn to you
We must put evil far behind us
And, Lord, return unto You

Just as in Jerusalem, when they filled the Upper Room
And they gathered together in Your Name
They waited and they prayed till Your power was displayed
And the Spirit fell upon them like a flame

In this land, Lord, we need revival
In this land we must turn to you
We must put evil far behind us
And, Lord, return unto You

Oh, as in former days when the people fasted and prayed
And the Lord heard their prayers from above
He sent His holy power and delivered in that hour
And the people rejoiced in His Love

In this world, Lord, we need revival
In this world we must turn to you
We must put evil far behind us
And, Lord, return unto You

For, soon and very soon, our midnight will turn to noon
And the glory of the Lord will be revealed
And every nation shall come to the Lamb and to His Throne
And the world shall forever be healed.
